EEPROM

Integrated circuits designed to store relatively small amounts of data but allowing individual bytes to be electrically erased and reprogrammed

EEPROM stands for electrically erasable programmable read-only memory. EEPROMs are used in computers, integrated in microcontrollers for smart cards and remote keyless systems as a non-volatile memory. EEPROMs can be programmed and erased in-circuit, by applying special programming signals. An EEPROM has a limited life for erasing and reprogramming, now reaching a million operations in modern EEPROMs. EEPROM ICs have memory sizes ranging from 128 bits to 4 Mbits and are available with parallel or serial (SPI, I2C, 1-Wire) interfaces.
