Rectifier Diodes

Two-terminal semiconductor that conducts current in a single direction

Rectifier diodes are used to convert AC signals into DC. They have to terminals denominated anode (+) and cathode (-) and conduct considerable current only when in the forward bias polarization (Anode voltage 0.7V approximately larger than cathode voltage). Silicon rectifier diodes are fabricated to form a P-N junction that acts as the rectifier barrier.
