Thank you for visiting our summary description of Octopart APIv3 and Nexar Legacy API's (formerly APIv4) Terms of Use. Access to Octopart APIv3 and Nexar Legacy API are subject to more detailed Terms of Use (the “Terms”) which can be found at octopart.com/api/legal. Please note that anyone found to be in violation of these Terms may have their API key disabled without any prior notice or right to refund. If it is unclear if your application may violate these Terms, please reach out to us at support@nexar.com and we would be happy to help clarify.

Octopart APIv3 and Nexar Legacy API are intended to assist in real-time part discovery and purchasing decisions. They may not, however, be used in a number of prohibited manners, including:

• Utilizing either of the API's for historical trends in pricing and inventory is prohibited. Any mass aggregation of Octopart data for analytics of any kind is prohibited without explicit written consent from Octopart.

• Anyone involved in the distribution of electronic components or any products listed on Octopart (including sales, brokerage, or software developers providing applications and services for electronic component distribution), is prohibited from utilizing Octopart APIv3 and Nexar Legacy API for pricing, availability, and images. If you fall into the aforementioned category please reach out to us at support@nexar.com for an API key with these features turned off. If you have any questions as to whether your use case would be permitted, please provide a detailed description of your intended use in your registration, or please contact support@nexar.com to discuss further.

Use of Octopart APIv3 and Nexar Legacy API is priced based upon volume of parts returned by a request, and there are several pricing tiers available. Our REST API, which can be found at octopart.com/api/dashboard, is priced based on the volume of HTTP requests.

Additional Terms

• If your application is publicly available, you must visibly display the text "Powered by NEXAR" (where "Octopart" is our logo, which you can find here) and link back to the Octopart website. This should not be considered permission to use "Octopart" or any variation of our name in the title of your website or application.
• If you display content from individual parts, you must link back to the Octopart part detail page url (octopart_url). The link must be visible, functional and followable (i.e. without rel="nofollow" or any similar attribute).
• If you display any hyperlinks to octopart-clicks.com urls, you must include a rel="nofollow" attribute in the hyperlink.
• If you display any images, you must visibly display the attributed source (credit_string) with the corresponding hyperlink (the credit_url).
• You will not host any non-textual content like datasheets or images on your own servers (i.e., you should always serve them from Octopart's servers)
• You will not store any cached data for a period longer than 24 hours.

• You will not post or publish your API key in any publicly accessible forum. Any key discovered in an openly accessible page will be deactivated immediately.

• Failure to adhere to these Terms or any application found to violate these are subject to termination without prior notice or right to refund.
