The AD8422 is a high-precision, low-power, low-noise rail-to-rail instrumentation amplifier, featuring the industry's best microampere-per-unit performance. This device processes signals with ultra-low distortion performance, and load does not affect performance across the entire output range. Utilizing the latest process and design technologies, it offers higher dynamic range and lower error than previous generations, while consuming less than one-third of the power. The AD8422 adopts the same high-performance pin arrangement as the AD8221. With extremely low bias current, the AD8422 produces no error at high source impedance, allowing multiple sensors to be multiplexed to the input. Its low voltage noise and low current noise characteristics make the AD8422 an ideal choice for measuring Wheatstone bridges. The AD8422's wide input range and rail-to-rail output characteristics provide all the advantages of a high-performance instrumentation amplifier in single-supply applications. Whether using high or low supply voltage, the energy-saving characteristics of the AD8422 make it an excellent choice for high-channel-count or power-sensitive applications, while also meeting the limited error budgets typical of such applications. The AD8422 features robust input overvoltage protection to ensure stability without sacrificing noise performance. It boasts high ESD suppression capability and continuous voltage input protection against up to 40 V from opposite supply rails. The gain can be set from 1 to 1000 using a resistor. The reference pin can be used to apply precise offset to the output voltage. The AD8422 is rated for an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, maintaining typical performance curves up to 125°C. It is available in both 8-pin MSOP and SOIC packages.
